| Meguru Film Sound is Finland's leading company for sound production services. Meguru's services include film sound design, film mixing, film music, sound editing and work related to sound effects.
Meguru's clientele mainly consists of domestic and foreign film production companies. Meguru is employed in the service of films of different lengths, from shorts, spot films, documentaries and TV-films to feature films. BACKGROUND In 1985 the Finnish Film Foundation made a significant basic investment in the building of a top-quality film sound studio on its premises in Helsinki. The aim was to raise the quality of Finnish film sound to international level. In 2000 the Finnish Film Foundation incorporated the operations of the recording studio and SES Film Sound was established. Since then, nearly two hundred feature films and some five hundred documentaries and short films had been mixed in the studio. Along the way, operations extended to sound design and sound editing. In August 2003 the executive board of the Finnish Film Foundation decided to sell out the entire sound service operations. The decision was based on the Foundation's wish to withdraw from ownership in commercially operated companies. Sound designers Peter Nordström and Olli Pärnänen of SES Film Sound together with sound designer Pekka Karjalainen offered to buy the equipment and business of the recording studio. The threesome started a company called Meguru film sound and concluded the sale with the Finnish Film Foundation in March 2004. Meguru Film Sound continues the tradition of SES Film Sound by working for better quality film sound in all its operations. |
